Eastin Hotel PJ is bidding farewell to its name after 27 years as it rebrands into the new Petaling Jaya Marriott Hotel
If you grew up in the Klang Valley, chances are you've attended at least one wedding, seminar, or buffet at Eastin Hotel in Seksyen 16, PJ. Or at the very least, driven past it.

But that era is officially drawing to a close, as the iconic property is being rebranded into a five-star Petaling Jaya Marriott Hotel following a RM100 million transformation
According to the New Straits Times, the change was confirmed on 17 July, when Damansara Indah Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of TSM Global) signed a hotel management agreement with global hospitality giant Marriott International.
Under this deal, Eastin's legacy will make way for Marriott's signature brand, complete with revamped rooms, upgraded facilities, and a whole new hospitality standard.

Eastin's roots go back to the late '90s, and it wasn't even supposed to be a hotel at first
Eastin Hotel PJ officially opened in 1998, a project originally led by Malaysian developer Datuk Tan Chew Piau and the CP Group.
Interestingly, it was initially designed as an apartment complex. But partway through, Tan pivoted to fill a growing demand for business hotels in PJ, and the rest is history.

Eastin quickly built a reputation for its business-friendly vibe, prime location, and no-frills efficiency, even inspiring the launch of a second Eastin in Penang in 2009.
But after over two decades in the game, the Petaling Jaya location was quietly sold in mid-2025 for an estimated RM200 million to a private entity linked to Datuk Lim Kheng Yew, founder of KYM Holdings.
That deal reportedly worked out to roughly RM515,000 per room, according to The Edge.
With the rebrand to Petaling Jaya Marriott Hotel, major upgrades are coming, including a brand new M Club Lounge
The hotel will remain open throughout the makeover, which will take place in phases.
Phase 1, featuring a full overhaul of the lobby and selected guest rooms, is expected to wrap up by the end of 2025.
The full conversion into Petaling Jaya Marriott Hotel is expected to be completed by December 2026

"This project introduces the trusted Marriott Hotels brand to the dynamic commercial corridor of Petaling Jaya. We're excited to collaborate with TSM Global to realise that vision," said Andree Susilo, Marriott International's VP of Hotel Development for Asia Pacific (excluding China), as reported by The Star.
