Did you know that Maybank has its own art gallery?

Better yet, it's now open to the public for free, showcasing artworks that have been kept within the bank for over four decades.

Maybank recently opened its Maybank Art Collection Exhibition (MACE) for public viewing for the very first time, giving visitors a rare look at pieces that were only displayed inside offices and hallways of Menara Maybank.

Titled Held in Time, Built on Trust, the exhibition is housed at Balai Seni Maybank, a gallery managed by the Maybank Foundation, the bank's corporate responsibility arm that supports arts and community initiatives.

Many of the artworks on display were acquired or gifted to Maybank since the establishment of Balai Seni Maybank in 1980

MACE brings these works together in a curated exhibition, allowing visitors to experience them more intentionally in a gallery setting.

According to Maybank Foundation, beyond showcasing art, the exhibition also highlights Maybank's long-standing support for Malaysian artists and its role in supporting the country's modern and contemporary art scene.

Curated in collaboration with Kakiseni and led by curator Ts Liu Cheng Hua, the exhibition is presented in three cycles featuring a total of 90 artworks

This means the artworks will rotate throughout the exhibition period, giving visitors different pieces to see while allowing more works from the collection to be displayed.

Visitors can also expect to see works by notable Malaysian artists including Ibrahim Hussein, Raja Azhar Idris, and Ismail Abdul Latiff.

And here's more good news: Maybank Foundation said MACE isn't a one-time exhibition, but the start of a longer effort to support Malaysia's creative scene while making art more accessible.
