With fuel prices and living costs continuing to climb, getting around town isn't as cheap as it used to be

Now, ride-hailing platform Bolt is rolling out a few new updates to help ease that daily commuting pinch.

The company recently announced its new multi-stop trip feature, alongside ride discounts of up to 25%, aimed at making rides more affordable for Malaysians.

If you've ever had to book separate trips just to drop off a friend or run a quick errand, this might actually make your life a little easier, and your wallet a lot happier.

With the multi-stop feature, passengers can now add up to three drop-off points in a single trip

This means you can share rides with friends, family, or even colleagues heading in the same direction, and split the cost instead of booking multiple rides.

According to Bolt, passengers who use this feature can save up to 35% compared to booking separate journeys.

Interestingly, Bolt's data shows that most users typically add two stops per trip, suggesting that shared rides are already becoming a more common habit among Malaysians

Of course, how much you save still depends on things like distance, timing, and how many stops you add.

Beyond that, Bolt is also ramping up driver availability during peak hours to reduce waiting times and minimise those painful surge prices.

There's also a ride scheduling feature, so you can plan ahead and lock in your trip earlier. A helpful update if you're the kind who hates last-minute price spikes.

According to Bolt Malaysia general manager Afzan Lutfi, these updates are part of the company's effort to give Malaysians more practical, everyday options as costs continue to rise.

Instead of relying on multiple rides or even driving yourself, shared trips could be a more budget-friendly alternative.
