A 72-year-old grandmother from Taipei, Lin Sui-tzu, is redefining what it means to enter one's golden years

Clad in a bikini and sporting a confident smile, Lin recently took the stage at the 2025 President's Cup Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships.

Competing in the over-70 category, the grandmother of five left judges and the Internet speechless with her firm physique and defined muscle lines.

According to South China Morning Post, Lin began her fitness journey at 69 to lead by example.

Before becoming a social media sensation, Lin worked for decades as a diabetes educator at the Minsheng Community Centre

She spent her days advising patients on managing high blood pressure and diabetes through diet and exercise.

However, she grew frustrated with patients who claimed they did not have the time to follow her health recommendations. To show them what was possible, she started weight training at 69. She initially wanted to understand the "resistance training" she was prescribing to seniors.

"I thought weight training was merely about building massive muscles, but I soon realised it emphasises health and muscle definition instead," Lin told Common Health Magazine.

Her hard work quickly translated into trophies, as she secured third place at a national championship in 2023. She followed that up with a second-place finish at the TBFA Championship the following year.

Even her five grandsons are in awe — with one reportedly calling her an "Invincible Wonder Woman" during a family shower.

Lin's husband, Chen Bingjian — a renowned cardiologist — is her biggest fan. He emphasised that resistance training offers tremendous benefits, especially in Taiwan, where many struggle with high blood sugar and cholesterol.

To maintain her "wonder woman" status, Lin wakes up at 5am every weekday for an hour of weight training

Her diet consists of whole foods and a low-carbohydrate intake, supplemented by yoga, ballroom dancing, and painting. Lin hopes to continue teaching these skills in a nursing home even as she gets older.

She often reminds her patients that the second half of life is full of potential, and it is never too late to learn.

Netizens have flocked to praise her discipline and youthful look, with many noting she looks decades younger than her actual age.
