Singapore is getting a new kind of wildlife park this May, and it'll be way more adventurous than your usual zoo stroll
Rainforest Wild Adventure at Mandai Wildlife Reserve is officially soft-opening its second phase on 20 May, making it Asia's first adventure-based wildlife park.

Instead of just observing animals, visitors are encouraged to move through their habitats through trekking routes, canopy walks, swings, climbs, and obstacle-style experiences designed to feel like a rainforest expedition
The park spans 20 hectares across two zones (East and West), inspired by the rainforests of Asia, Africa, and Madagascar.
One ticket covers both zones, with free shuttle services linking the entire precinct so you can explore the full experience in a single visit.

You can take it slow with forest trails and accessible walkways, or go all in with Adventure+ activities spread across the park
In the East zone, things already lean into the "adventure" part quite heavily.
There's the Canopy Glider, which lets you glide above the forest, and the Ravine Swing, which sends you 8m into the air with sweeping views of the habitats below.

For something more intense, visitors can climb the 11m-high Split Rock Summit, scale a strangler fig-inspired structure in Primate Climb, or take on a 125-metre treetop traverse where wildlife sightings can happen right below you.
Over in the West zone, Black Adventure experiences push things further with guided high-element activities like rock-face ascents and simulated cave expeditions.

Unlike traditional zoos, animal encounters here are designed to be unpredictable
Wildlife is housed in large, open habitats where visibility depends on timing and movement rather than fixed viewing points.
The East zone features species like pygmy hippos, eastern bongos, red river hogs, Nile lechwes, and a mix of Madagascan wildlife including lemurs and exotic birds.
One of the biggest highlights is the okapi, making its Southeast Asia debut.
Often mistaken for a hybrid of a zebra and a giraffe, it's actually the giraffe's closest living relative and one of the most elusive large mammals in the world.
There are currently four okapis in the park as part of an international conservation breeding programme.

Visitors can switch between low-intensity walking trails and high-adrenaline courses depending on their comfort level.
There are also accessible routes across parts of the park, making it suitable for families, strollers, and wheelchair users without missing out on the experience.
The park will feature National Geographic pop-up stores in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia.
You can find adventure-inspired apparel, accessories, and immersive retail spaces designed around exploration themes and wildlife photography.

Rainforest Wild Adventure East opens daily from 9am to 6pm, with last admission at 5pm
Tickets include access to both zones, with selected Adventure+ activities included and additional experiences available for purchase.
