adidas China is really not playing around this year

The brand showcased its latest 'New Chinese Style' collection during its Power of Three runway at Shanghai Fashion Week, and honestly, it might be one of their strongest cultural flexes yet.

Instead of taking the easy route with generic motifs slapped onto hoodies, the team dove straight into the craftsmanship that actually defines Chinese heritage

We're talking jade-style buttons, flowy silhouettes pulled from ancient designs, structured hems that echo palace skirts, knitted textures, and brass details that legit look like they were lifted from vintage jewellery chests.

It's thoughtful, technical, and feels like something that belongs in both a streetwear lookbook and a design museum.

This drop also marked the 20th anniversary of adidas' Creation Center in Shanghai, and to celebrate, the brand gave its local creative team full control

And you can tell.

The collection doesn't just reference Chinese heritage: it rebuilds it through a modern lens.

To make the moment even bigger, adidas turned the entire launch into an experience: a three-day Fashion Hub, archive storytelling, and a see-now-buy-now rollout across Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing.

The finale brought together musicians, filmmakers, and street-culture names, pushing the Three Stripes into cultural-symbol territory rather than just performance gear.

As for the pieces? Jackets, skirts, and pants in a mix of silhouettes — some sharp, some flowy — all dripping with that East-meets-street aesthetic.

It's clean, stylish, and honestly looks way more premium than you'd expect from a seasonal drop.

The only catch is that the collection is a China-only release

So, unless you're there or you've got a reliable plug, good luck snagging anything. Our only wish now is to see it in Malaysia too.
