If your home is overflowing with paper bags from takeout and impulse shopping buys (relatable), here's a cool way to declutter and do something good for the environment
1 Utama has a wholesome initiative called "Bag It Forward", and it's exactly what it sounds like — a simple system where everyone shares their extra paper bags so others can reuse them.
Just head over to the 1RECYCLING CENTRE in the mall, where you can either:
– Drop off your spare paper bags on the "Bag It Forward" rack for someone else to use, or
– Pick up a paper bag for your own shopping if you forgot to bring one (we've all been there).
Shoppers have also mentioned that you can find free paper bag stations at 1 Utama's new wing on Level B2, below Caring Pharmacy, and at the old wing near the information counter on LG floor.
Turns out, many other malls have been doing this too
You can also find similar paper bag drop-off/pick-up points at:
– the Curve (in front of the Clarks store)
– Pavilion Bukit Jalil (Level 3, Pink Zone, in front of Choice)
– Plaza Arkadia at Desa ParkCity (near the Village Grocer entrance on LG floor)
– Sunway Velocity Mall
– Cheras LeisureMall at the parking entrance on LG floor
What we love most about this is how simple it is — just drop off a bag, and you've already helped someone else avoid taking a new one
It's a small kindness that adds up, especially when more malls are jumping onboard.
