Just a quick historical brief about Moleskine…
Founded by the Italian designer Maria Sebregondi, Moleskine became the spiritual successors of the traditional notebooks being sold in Paris during the 19th and 20th century which lead to the creation of its classic aesthetic: ivory-colored paper enveloped in a coated cardboard cover.

Around the 20th century, the black notebook craze even affected Oscar Wilde, Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway and Henri Matisse
Its brand name was taken after Bruce Chatwin's book, *The Songlines*. Chatwin tells the story of a notebook manufacturer who had to fold the business after the death of its owner. "Le vrai Moleskine n'est plus" ("The real Moleskine is no more") is a phrase coined by Chatwin to be said the owner of the stationery shop in *Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie*, according to Wikipedia.
