A South Korean family's 50kg haul of snacks that they bought during a recent visit to Malaysia has won hearts online
In a TikTok video, content creator Seonma Shin, known for sharing her experiences as a Korean living in Malaysia, revealed how excited her parents were to stock up on souvenirs to bring back home.
"Here's what my Korean parents bought — 50kg of Malaysian souvenirs," her caption reads.
In the video, with a clear mission in mind, her mum and dad can be seen filling an entire supermarket cart to the brim.
"What do you want to bring back?" Seonma asks her mum.
"Coffee, chocolate, and that toothpaste your dad likes," her mum replies.
No stranger to Malaysian products, they picked up plenty of local favourites
These include Chek Hup and Old Town instant coffee, BOH ice tea, many jars of kaya, Julie's biscuits, Hup Seng cream crackers ("It should be nice with coffee," said Seonma's mum), Eureka popcorn, Mister Potato, Roller Coaster, Super Ring, Beryl's chocolates, and more.
"These are very tasty. Your brother likes these," her mum repeatedly says as she adds things into the cart.
When her dad wonders aloud if they're buying too much, her mum quickly retorts, "This is the least we should get. It's not that much!"
The video has since racked up over 500,000 views, with Malaysians cracking up over her mum's enthusiasm and impressed by her solid snack selections
When asked about her mum's favourite Malaysian souvenir, Seonma told SAYS her mum actually loves Chek Hup coffee
"She loveeees Chek Hup Colombian Latte. Actually, it's quite a famous Malaysian souvenir among Korean tourists!" she explained.
"The sugar stick comes separately, so we can adjust the sweetness. It tastes good and she always has it together with Hup Seng biscuits. My whole family loves it."
