What seemed like a routine police roadblock in Lahad Datu, Sabah, turned into a pleasant surprise for motorists when officers were spotted handing out bubur lambuk

In a 36-second TikTok video posted by @putera8655, drivers initially braced themselves for a police inspection as they approached the uniformed personnel amid the slow-moving traffic.

However, road users were met with warm smiles and steaming packs of bubur lambuk, a traditional Ramadan dish, as police officers turned the traffic stop into a festive experience.

The video was captioned: "The drivers were definitely nervous, but it was just to give out bubur lambuk"

In the video, the most excited recipients were a van full of schoolchildren, eagerly reaching their hands out of the windows for the free food.

According to the New Straits Times, the thoughtful gesture was carried out by officers from Battalion 17 of the Lahad Datu General Operations Force (GOF) in conjunction with Ramadan.

The video has since garnered over 600,000 views on TikTok, with netizens expressing both amusement and appreciation for the wholesome scene

"I think some people turned back after spotting the cops from a distance," one user joked.

Another dubbed the officers the "Bubur Lambuk Unit".

Meanwhile, one commenter wished them well, saying, "Make sure you get a holiday for Raya. Working overtime to distribute bubur lambuk must be tiring, take a well-deserved break."
