A PayWave machine installed at a government building in Kedah to charge RM1 for toilet use has sparked amusement and surprise among Malaysians

In a Facebook post last week, netizen Abu Bakar TE shared a photo of a sign at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in Alor Setar that reads, "Toilet entry payment, RM1 (cashless), bank cards only!"

Expressing disbelief, the netizen captioned the post, "First time I've had to tap my bank card to use the toilet."

While the notice only mentions payment by bank card, the machine also displays a QR code, suggesting that mobile payments are also accepted.

"Just pee on that machine. Let it go bust," read a top comment.

"'Your card had been declined', then crap in your pants," a Facebook user joked.

"If the kid needs to pee… you'd have to look for the card first," read another comment.
