The first answer that probably comes to your mind is none other than the durian.

If you Google what Malaysia's national fruit is, the answer that pops up is actually… the papaya.

An opinion piece published by The Star in 2015 explained that contrary to popular belief, the national fruit is indeed the papaya.
And a quick check on Twitter also shows that some believe it's true.

But if that's the case, then what about durian?
Apparently, the thorny king of fruits also has supporters claiming that it is the country's national fruit.

As if the fruit needs more controversy, some claimed that durian is also the national fruit of um… Singapore.

This Quora thread begs to differ though, saying that Singapore and Malaysia have no national fruit despite durian being a popular choice.
