According to 'Captain Marvel' director Anna Boden, Goose was renamed for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to be more "specific to Carol Danvers' past, […] being a pilot in the 1980s when 'Top Gun' was out", reported Collider.
In the comics, the cat goes by 'Chewie' after Chewbacca in Star Wars.
Goose is played by four different cats in the movie: Reggie, Rizzo, Gonzo, and Archie. It is Reggie's face that is used in most of the close-ups and reaction shots, reported Mashable SE Asia.
The ginger tabby has even inspired South Korean netizens on Twitter to start a wholesome new meme:
Netizens are using the hashtag "#캡틴마블_우리집구스" – which loosely translates to "Captain Marvel's pet Goose" – to share edited 'Captain Marvel' movie posters, featuring their own cats.
