The Universal Studios in California announced the opening date in a behind-the-scenes video they released on Wednesday showing TWD staff creating new zombie-molds specifically for the park (beware: crawling zombies)! #animatronic

Some zombies will be animatronic, while real-life actors will be playing the role of the undead
TWD marks the latest portion of a whopping 75 percent of new territory that has taken over the park in the last five years, reports [Entertainment Weekly] (http://www.ew.com/article/2016/03/13/walking-dead-universal-studios-hollywood).
"After six years of working on TWD, we have a great opportunity to take TWD out of the studio, off the soundstage and into an attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood where guests can come face-to-face with walkers…We're creating animatronic walkers that guests will be able to see…it's never been done before….it's one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art….and I can't wait," said TWD's executive producer, director and effects guru Greg Nicotero in the video.

Expect the fear-inducing "authentic walker make-up effects, sophisticated animatronic walkers, substantially more detailed set design and costuming, and highly recognizable props replicated from the series," than the original
