Growing up with characters like Buzz, Miguel, Sulley, and Shrek probably shaped your inner child in ways you didn't even realise. Thankfully, Hollywood hasn't forgotten!

From classic Pixar franchises to beloved DreamWorks hits, a wave of sequels (some years in the making) are coming soon to stir up nostalgia, tears, and straight‑up joy.

Here's what's confirmed so far:

1. Toy Story 5 (June 2026)

After almost seven years since Toy Story 4, Pixar's next chapter in the toy saga is officially on the calendar for 19 June 2026. The trailer teases a fresh conflict as traditional toys face off against a high‑tech gadget called 'Lilypad', and Jessie steps up as Bonnie's new leader while Buzz helps navigate a world of digital distractions.

This one's shaping up to be a major emotional ride, channelling exactly the kind of nostalgia that made the franchise a generational favourite.

2. Incredibles 3 (2028)

The Parr family is back. Pixar has officially confirmed Incredibles 3 and set a 2028 theatrical release date.

While plot details are still under wraps, this sequel will continue the supers‑meets‑family adventures of Mr Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, and most excitingly… Jack‑Jack.

3. Monsters Inc. 3 (TBA)

Feels like the perfect time to revisit Monstropolis! Pixar has confirmed that Monsters, Inc. 3 is officially in development, marking the first true third entry in the franchise after the original films (Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University) and the Disney+ series Monsters at Work.

There's no official release date yet, but the news has already sent fans of Mike and Sulley buzzing… because who wouldn't want another dose of monster mayhem and heart?

4. Coco 2 (2029)

The music‑filled land of the dead is calling us back! Disney and Pixar announced Coco 2 with the original directing duo (Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina) returning to lead the sequel, which is scheduled for 2029.

This follow‑up will take us deeper into the colourful world of family, heritage, and music that made the first one an instant classic. If the original's emotional punch is anything to go by, expect all the feels once again.

5. Shrek 5 (June 2027)

Not a Pixar movie, but absolutely worth mentioning in this feel‑good nostalgia roundup: Shrek 5 is officially scheduled to hit theatres on 30 June 2027.

Originally slated for 23 December 2026, Universal Pictures announced that the film's release has been moved to June 2027.

This long‑awaited continuation comes a whopping 17 years after the fourth film (Shrek Forever After), reunites original cast members like Mike Myers (Shrek), Eddie Murphy (Donkey), and Cameron Diaz (Fiona), and promises to bring the swamp‑dwelling ogre back into the spotlight.

Honestly, is anything better for healing your inner child than a grumpy green ogre and his hilarious crew returning for more?

BONUS: Gatto (March 2027)

Okay, this one isn't a sequel, but it is a confirmed upcoming animated film from Pixar that's too cute not to include as a bonus.

Gatto is set for 5 March 2027 and tells the story of Nero, a mischievous black cat navigating life (and mischief) in Venice, Italy, complete with musical vibes and feline adventures.

Even though it's not a sequel, it's still a perfect addition to your watchlist and absolutely worth a spot next to all those nostalgia hitters.
