Bollywood film 3 Idiots, one of India's most beloved friendship movies, is reportedly getting a sequel

Nearly 15 years after the cult classic first hit theatres, a second movie is on the horizon, reuniting the film's iconic cast and creative team.
According to Pinkvilla, 3 Idiots 2 will reunite Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi under director Rajkumar Hirani, with Vidhu Vinod Chopra producing alongside Hirani and Aamir.
The script has reportedly been finalised, and insiders say the team is buzzing with excitement.
"They feel the magic of the first film has returned. It's as funny, emotional, and meaningful as the original," a source told Pinkvilla.

The sequel is set to pick up 15 years after the original, following beloved characters Rancho, Farhan, Raju, and Pia as they reunite for a brand-new adventure
Rajkumar had long toyed with the idea of revisiting 3 Idiots, but only recently found the right moment to expand it into a full-fledged screenplay, especially after his Dadasaheb Phalke biopic project was put on hold.
"Rajkumar always had a seed of an idea for 3 Idiots 2, but he wanted it to be perfect and worthy of the original's legacy," the insider added.
The original 3 Idiots, released in 2009, became a cultural phenomenon, sparking conversations about India's education system and setting box-office records.
