Netflix and Sony have confirmed that KPop Demon Hunters 2 is in the works, but don't get your lightsticks out just yet
According to Bloomberg, Variety, and Deadline, the animated musical sequel won't be hitting our screens until 2029.
Yep. That's an entire K-pop trainee's debut cycle away.

The long wait is due to animation's notoriously time-consuming production process
Still, as with anything in entertainment, schedules could shift, so a little early manifesting wouldn't hurt.

For those who missed the first movie, KPop Demon Hunters follows the members of Huntr/x — Rumi (voiced by Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) — an all-girl K-pop group who also happen to moonlight as demon hunters.
Between topping charts and saving the world from supernatural chaos, the trio became instant fan favourites.
Since its release in August 2025, the film has exploded into a full-blown phenomenon

It became Netflix's most watched original film of all time, recording over 325 million views, and the first Netflix movie to hit No. 1 at the US box office back in late August with a two-day gross of USD19 million (RM79 million).
With bangers like Golden, Your Idol, and Soda Pop, it dominated Billboard and went platinum, with Golden hitting No. 1 on the Hot 100.
Co-director Maggie Kang, who helmed the first film alongside Chris Appelhans, earlier teased that there's still plenty of story left to unpack

"We've set up so much for potential backstory. There's a lot of questions that are left unanswered and areas that are not explored," she said in an interview with Variety.
As for what KPop Demon Hunters 2 will be about, Netflix and Sony are keeping that tightly under wraps for now.
