On 27 August, lucky passersby in Bukit Bintang were treated to a special live impromptu "concert" full of patriotic vibes

The performance featured local rapper Aman RA, street musician Genji Buskers, and the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO), who delivered a dynamic live rendition of Aman RA's Bangun, Kita Bagi Jadi.

It all began as Genji Buskers performed to a sizeable evening crowd which included Aman RA and MPYO members, who happened to stop by after a practice session

Noticing Aman RA in the crowd, Genji Buskers called for the rapper to join them on stage, and the casual street gig suddenly transformed into a live duet backed by MPYO musicians, with Aman RA and the crowd erupting into a chorus of "Bangun, Kita Bagi Jadi!" ("Rise up, let's make it happen!").

Then in true flashmob fashion, they were joined by breakdancers and silat practitioners to give the whole affair some extra buzz to coincide with the Hari Kebangsaan spirit.

To add to the atmosphere, even the digital billboards overlooking the Bukit Bintang crossing began showing the song's recently-released music video, which has amassed over 2.3 million views since its release on 15 August.

As it turned out, the performance was a special event organised by CIMB, just in time for the Hari Kebangsaan celebrations

In case you didn't know, Bangun, Kita Bagi Jadi is a rework of Bangun by Aman RA, which was released in 2018. The track was Aman RA's heartfelt ode to Malaysians' always-say-can spirit.

Now reimagined, the song and its music video aptly represents CIMB's commitment to nurture and encourage the spirit of resilience, optimism and positivity amongst Malaysians today.

The music video also stars national cycling hero Dato' Azizulhasni Awang, whose journey as an Olympian embodies grit and perseverance.

Together, Aman RA and Azizul paint a powerful picture of resilience, featuring stories of everyday Malaysians, from entrepreneurs to young creatives and students, who've overcome challenges and found new hope through CIMB's programmes and support.

This performance is part of CIMB's wider Kita Bagi Jadi initiative, which takes the spirit of resilience and turns it into tangible action

Through its Art & Culture pillar, CIMB hopes to spotlight homegrown creativity, giving local artists and performers the chance to share their stories and talents on bigger platforms.

Beyond music, the initiative will also extend into CIMB Artober Art & Soul, an annual programme that celebrates Malaysia's vibrant arts scene by connecting creatives with wider audiences.

Through such efforts, CIMB hopes to grow a culture of perseverance and positivity, while encouraging Malaysians to rise above challenges and make their aspirations a reality.
