National carmaker Proton has unveiled the latest iteration of Malaysia's top SUV model, the Proton X50
With over 134,000 units sold since its October 2020 debut, the Proton X50 has maintained its position as the top-selling B-segment SUV for five consecutive years.
Offered in three distinct variants — Executive, Premium, and Flagship — Proton plans to host a series of activation events in the weeks leading up to the grand launch of the all-new Proton X50. These events are aimed at familiarising the public with its new features and facilitating early bookings from potential buyers.
The all-new Proton X50 features a fresh look, inside and out
The new X50 showcases a refreshed exterior design, highlighted by a redesigned front grille and bumper, a more aggressive rear spoiler, distinctive quad exhaust tailpipes, a contemporary dual-tone colour scheme, and newly designed textured alloy wheels.

The vehicle's interior has also undergone substantial upgrades, aiming to provide a more luxurious and driver-focused experience.
This includes plush soft-touch materials, a sleek floating floor console, column shifters inspired by luxury vehicles, and dynamic 72-colour rhythmic ambient lighting.

Buyers can select from the four colours — Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, and Armour Silver — alongside a striking new option, Teal Bayou Green.
The core appeal of the new X50 lies in its advanced cabin intelligence
Central to this is a prominent 14.6-inch infotainment display, compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This system now features enhanced voice recognition in Bahasa Melayu, underscoring Proton's dedication to providing a more localised and intuitive user experience.

Further augmenting convenience is the updated PROTON Link 2.0 application, which enables remote engine and air-conditioning activation, real-time vehicle status updates, and convenient service appointment scheduling — all manageable via a mobile device.
Proton also updated the X50's powertrain and safety features
Propelling the vehicle is a new, cutting-edge i-GT 1.5 TD engine, paired with a responsive 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This powertrain delivers 133kW of power and 290Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.6 seconds — a notable 0.3-second improvement over the previous Proton X50.
Furthermore, a remarkable 4.7% increase in fuel efficiency establishes a new benchmark for both performance and economy within its segment.

The SUV also features luxury-car inspired column shifters, enhanced Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) — this includes a Rear Side Radar System (RSRS), an upgraded Auto Park Assist (APA) system, and a 360-degree HD Camera coupled with a 180-degree undercarriage transparent view.
This suite ensures the X50 provides both sophisticated intelligence and confidence for the driver. Backed by a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, drivers can enjoy genuine peace of mind, confident in the vehicle's responsiveness and dependability across all driving conditions.

Registration is now available on the official Proton website
Proton has not revealed the pricing of the all-new X50, and its official launch date also remains undisclosed.
However, members of the public will have the opportunity to get a closer look at the new X50 and place early bookings during upcoming on-ground events for the newly refreshed SUV.
