The Malaysian government has rolled out a new application as an alternative for the public to report emergencies

Developed by Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) and the Communications Ministry, the Next Generation Emergency Response Services 999 (NG MERS 999) aims to deliver faster, more accurate, and more efficient emergency assistance.

Launched on Sunday, 16 November, the new SaveME 999 app allows users to send their real-time location, video, text, and multimedia distress alerts directly to emergency operators, offering a more effective way to provide information and seek help.

While users can still call 999, the app offers accessibility features that are particularly beneficial for individuals with special needs.

You can download the app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Next, select the most relevant type of emergency and write a short message describing the situation.

You can also upload a voice message, photos, or videos.

For a more direct way to contact the authorities, you can always call 999 from the home page.
