A group of foreign workers has been praised for their swift action in rescuing a driver from a sinkhole in Tanjong Katong, Singapore, on 26 July, and for helping manage traffic at the scene
A video of the dramatic rescue has emerged online, showing the workers positioned precariously at the edge of the sinkhole as they helped pull the woman to safety from her car.

The sinkhole opened up suddenly, swallowing the car whole
A video circulating online shows the sinkhole opening up as a car drives into it. Singapore's national water agency, PUB, announced via Facebook that the sinkhole, spanning two lanes, had emerged around 5pm.
The sinkhole developed next to an existing PUB worksite at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road and Mountbatten Road.
