Take Note Of These Road Closures In KL For Thaipusam & VM2026 Run This Weekend

Several major roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed or diverted in stages to make way for Thaipusam celebrations and the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) Run this weekend
In a statement yesterday, 29 January, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa confirmed that some roads will be temporarily closed from today, 30 January, to Tuesday, 3 February, to accommodate the two events.
The Thaipusam procession kicks off at 9pm tonight as the chariot travels from the Sri Maha Mariamman Dhevasthanam Temple on Jalan Tun HS Lee in the city centre to Batu Caves
It is scheduled to arrive at the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple in Batu Caves at 4pm tomorrow, 31 January.
The roads will close again at 3pm on Monday, 2 February, for the chariot's arrival back to the city centre by 4am on Tuesday, 3 February.

– Jalan Leboh Ampang/Jalan Perak
– Jalan Tun Perak/Jalan Pudu
– Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock/Jalan Sultan
– Jalan Sultan/Jalan Hang Jebat
– Jalan Sultan/Jalan Petaling
– Jalan Sultan/Jalan Panggung
– Jalan Sultan/Jalan Tun HS Lee
– Jalan Hang Kasturi/Jalan Sultan Mohamed
– Jalan Munshi Abdullah/Jalan Dang Wangi
– Jalan Dang Wangi/Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman
– Jalan Raja Laut/Jalan Dang Wangi
– Jalan Raja Laut/Jalan Sultan Ismail

Meanwhile, the VM2026 Run, held in conjunction with Federal Territory Day, is also being held in Kuala Lumpur this Sunday, 1 February
The event, organised by Malaysia Marathon Official Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry, features two main categories: the 10KM KL10 Run and the 5KM VM2026 Run.
It is split into two categories, effectively impacting the city for the entire day:
– Morning session (4am to 10am): The KL10 Run
– Afternoon session (3pm to 11.59pm): The VM2026 Run

– Jalan Pinang
– Jalan Kia Peng
– Jalan Stonor
– Jalan Conlay
– Jalan Raja Chulan
– Jalan Bukit Bintang
– Jalan Sultan Ismail
– Jalan Dang Wangi
– Jalan Munshi Abdullah
– Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman
– Jalan Persiaran Maybank
Mohd Zamzuri has advised the public to plan their journeys in advance, use suitable alternative routes, and comply with instructions from police officers and traffic personnel on duty.
