National women's doubles pair Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan will reportedly earn RM1 million each annually under a new contract with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM)
According to Berita Harian, Tan and Thinaah are believed to have concluded negotiations with BAM and will sign the contract before departing for the Japan Open, which starts on 15 July.
The Malay daily understands that the offer is in line with a decision made at a previous BAM council meeting, despite speculation that the world No. 3 pair had requested a higher sum, which prolonged contract negotiations.
BAM is said to have agreed to increase Tan and Thinaah's payment package if they achieve strong results in the three upcoming tournaments between now and August: the Japan Open, the China Open, and the World Championships in Paris, France.

The new contract will last until at least the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
The New Straits Times noted that the new contract brought much-needed relief to both fans and BAM officials, ending months of uncertainty following the expiry of their previous deal in December.
Tan and Thinaah have delivered impressive results in recent months, winning the Thailand Open, finishing as runners-up at the Indonesia Open, reaching the semi-finals of the Malaysia Masters, and advancing to the quarter-finals of the Singapore Open.
