It was a golden weekend for Malaysian badminton, with both the men's and women's doubles pairs emerging champions at the 2025 Thailand Open

Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik secured the men's doubles title after a thrilling three-set battle against Denmark's William Kryger Boe and Christian Faust Kjaer in Bangkok on Sunday, 18 May.

According to Malay Mail, the world No. 5 duo bounced back from a first-set loss to win 20-22, 21-17, 21-12 in a tense 60-minute final at Nimibutr Stadium.

This marks their second title of the season, having previously won the Badminton Asia Championships in March — the first time they've clinched two titles in a single year.

Meanwhile, Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan delivered a strong performance to defeat South Korea's Jeong Na Eun and Lee Yeon Woo in straight sets, 21-16, 21-17, securing their fourth World Tour title

The New Straits Times reported that their historic victory also makes them the first Malaysian women's pair to win the Thailand Open since its inception in 1984.

The world No. 4 duo's previous World Tour wins include the Swiss Open (2021), French Open (2022), and Hong Kong Open (2024).

Both Malaysian pairs take home USD37,525 (RM161,710) each in prize money, while the runners-up earn USD18,050 (RM77,780).
