Foreign-registered vehicles entering Singapore will face higher charges from 1 January 2027
This comes after Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced an increase in Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fees and Goods Vehicle Permit (GVP) rates.
Under the revised fees, foreign-registered cars will be charged SGD50 (RM155) per day, up from SGD35 (RM108), while motorcycles will pay SGD7 (RM22) per day, up from SGD4 (RM12.50), reported Bernama.
The VEP fee will apply every day except weekends and Singapore public holidays.

LTA also said it will scrap the annual 10 free VEP days and free weekday VEP hours, which currently allow foreign vehicles to enter Singapore without charge during certain periods
In a statement, the authority said it reviews fees for foreign-registered vehicles periodically to ensure parity with the cost of owning and using Singapore-registered ones.
"This is to ensure that the cost of owning and using a foreign-registered vehicle in Singapore is commensurate with that of a Singapore-registered vehicle," LTA said.
"The cost difference has widened in recent years, giving rise to the need to increase the VEP fee for foreign-registered cars and motorcycles and the GVP fee for foreign-registered goods vehicles."
Meanwhile, the Goods Vehicle Permit (GVP) for foreign-registered goods vehicles will increase from SGD40 to SGD70 (RM217) per month from January next year
Owners can still purchase GVPs at the current rate before the revised fees take effect. However, permits with a validity period starting from the effective date will be charged at the higher rate.
The fee changes come ahead of Singapore's transition to its new Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) 2 system, which will take effect on 1 January 2027.
Foreign-registered vehicles are not required to install the new ERP 2 on-board unit (OBU), but those entering Singapore without one will incur flat-rate ERP charges for each operational day they use Singapore roads, SGD3 (RM9.30) per day for motorcycles, SGD10 (RM31) per day for all other vehicles.
LTA said foreign motorists can choose to install the OBU from 1 April this year. Installation must be done in Singapore at authorised workshops and by approved technicians.
The cost of the OBU is SGD158.70 (RM492), excluding installation fees.
Installation of the OBU will be mandatory for Malaysian taxis for tracking and enforcement purposes, but remains optional for other foreign-registered vehicles.
LTA added that more details on OBU installation for foreign motorists will be announced in due course.
