Rapid KL Is Extending LRT, MRT & Monorail Peak Hours From 23 To 28 May For ASEAN Summit
Train frequency will be increased to accommodate the expected surge in passenger volume.
Rapid KL will be extending its peak-hour rail operations in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit, which will take place in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya from 23 to 28 May
In a statement yesterday, 20 May, the LRT, MRT, and KL Monorail operator announced that peak-hour operations on weekdays will be temporarily extended by an hour in the mornings and evenings.
From this Friday, 23 May, to next Wednesday, 28 May, weekday peak hours will now run from 6.30am to 10am (previously 7am to 9.30am) in the morning, and from 4.30pm to 8pm (previously 5pm to 7.30pm) in the evening.
What this means: During these peak periods, trains will arrive every 4 minutes, compared to the usual 5-minute intervals during off-peak hours.

Meanwhile, train frequency will also be increased this weekend, 24 and 25 May, to accommodate the expected surge in passenger volume
This Saturday and Sunday, trains will arrive at increased frequency on these lines:
– LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line: every 4 minutes
– LRT Kelana Jaya Line: every 5 minutes
– KL Monorail: every 8 minutes
– MRT Kajang Line: every 8 minutes
– MRT Putrajaya Line: every 8 minutes
Rapid KL said in addition to increased monitoring and control measures to ensure smooth operations during this period, it would deploy additional trains if required.
It will also station 400 additional staff at selected rail stations to assist passengers and ASEAN Summit delegates using public transport.

On the downside, Rapid KL said some bus routes and its On-Demand services are expected to experience delays due to intermittent road closures
The affected bus routes include:
– Route 402 (LRT Titiwangsa – LRT Maluri)
– Route 302 (LRT Titiwangsa – KLCC)
– Route 300 (Hub Pandan Indah – Lebuh Ampang)
– Route 303 (Taman Mulia Jaya – Lebuh Ampang)
– Rapid KL On-Demand (Zone Titiwangsa – Chow Kit)

People who would like to travel to KLCC and nearby areas from 23 to 28 May are encouraged to use public transport to avoid traffic congestion
Rapid KL suggests travelling to these trains stations within the city centre:
– KLCC (LRT Kelana Jaya Line)
– Persiaran KLCC (MRT Putrajaya)
– Raja Chulan (KL Monorail)
– Conlay (MRT Putrajaya)
– Bukit Bintang (MRT Kajang and KL Monorail)
The public has been advised to plan their journeys in advance and to stay updated via Rapid KL's official social media channels.
