MCMC also said 266 telecommunications towers were affected by power outages.

PRIME (Portable Radio and Integrated Mobile Internet System) is a mobile command centre on wheels, fitted with satellite, radio, and mobile internet equipment. It is designed to be quickly deployed in areas with limited or no connectivity.

On top of that, MCMC also also activated 131 National Information Dissemination (NADI) centres across Sabah

These centres provide affected residents with access to the Internet, allowing them to keep in touch with their families and the authorities during the recovery period.

To speed up restoration, MCMC formed a task force with Sabah Electricity and telecommunications companies. The team is monitoring critical sites and collector hubs, while deploying temporary generators to restore power and bring communications back online.

So far, more than half of the affected towers — 147 out of 266 — have already resumed operations.
