Starting 15 January, Malaysians flying out of the country will be required to use MyDigital ID when accessing the National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe) mobile application for immigration checks

According to Bernama, the Home Ministry said foreign travellers will continue to use the existing login method, with the change applying only to Malaysian citizens.

The move is part of the NIISe initiative, which verifies user identities through the National Registration Department (JPN) database without storing personal data.

The ministry said this will improve security and make digital transactions smoother by allowing a single login, eliminating the need to remember multiple passwords.

The app is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Huawei AppGallery.

MyNIISe was first introduced on 22 September last year at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Johor Bahru.

The app will be expanded in stages to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2, as well as airports in Bayan Lepas, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu.

As of 30 December, MyNIISe recorded 599,967 downloads and 287,258 registered users.

The ministry said integrating MyDigital ID into MyNIISe reflects the Madani government's push to modernise public services, providing secure, efficient, and user-friendly digital solutions for Malaysians.
