Malaysian Fatally Shot 18 Times In Front Of Pregnant Wife Outside Their Home In Thailand

A Malaysian man was shot dead outside his home in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, Thailand, on Saturday evening, 1 November, in a brutal attack witnessed by his pregnant wife

The victim, 33-year-old Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali, had been installing a CCTV camera when two men arrived at their house and opened fire.

According to Bernama, his wife, Wan Fatihah Mat Hussin, 35, said the assailants fired multiple shots at her husband, causing him to collapse.

"I immediately held him, but the assailants continued firing until their ammunition ran out before fleeing in a car," she told reporters.

Mohd Fuad was rushed to Sungai Golok Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries at 9pm on the same day

Wan Fatihah said hospital reports confirmed he had been shot 18 times, suffering wounds to his back and neck.

He was laid to rest at the Kampung Apam Islamic Cemetery in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, on Sunday, 2 November.

Mohd Fuad's mother, Zaiton Abdul Rahman, 64, said her son had been making preparations for the birth of his first child, expected next month.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat has since confirmed the shooting, saying investigations are ongoing in collaboration with Thai authorities

In the latest update, The Vibes reported that Thai police have detained a man in his 30s believed to be involved in the shooting.

The suspect, who reportedly holds dual Thai-Malaysian citizenship and was a former Kelantan football player, surrendered at the Sungai Golok police station last night.

Regarding the motive, Mohd Yusoff said state police would leave the investigation to the Thai authorities.

Wan Fatihah had earlier told reporters she believes the suspect had borrowed money from her husband.
