Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that judges will receive a salary increase of up to 30%, effective 1 January 2026

During the tabling of Belanjawan 2026 today, 10 October, Anwar noted that the last time judges' salaries were raised was in 2015.

He also highlighted that judges do not receive annual salary increments through other civil service schemes and are not permitted to hold other positions or engage in business.

"We are aware that our judicial system was once considered tarnished, but we are proud that the judiciary is now moving towards having more integrity and being independent," he said.

"In that spirit, the government has agreed to this salary increase," he added.
