Evacuation Ordered After Incessant Rain Causes Landslide Near Apartment Complex In Seputeh

A slope collapse has damaged several vehicles, with 104 apartment units affected.

More than 100 residents in Taman United, Seputeh, were evacuated after a landslide struck the area following heavy rain since this morning, 24 November

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said it received a report at 11.02am of a landslide along a slope at Jalan Sepadu 6, prompting a team from the Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station to respond.

Deputy Fire Supt II Armdan Mahat, head of the Seputeh station, said the incident involved an estimated 60m stretch of collapsed slope that hit two cars and several motorcycles.

"One vehicle was buried while another toppled. The landslide had entered the compound of the nearby low-cost apartment," the New Straits Times quoted him as saying.

After discussions with a representative from the Seputeh parliamentary office and DBKL engineers, two residential blocks comprising 104 units, along with nearby premises, were ordered to evacuate due to continued soil movement and ongoing rain

No casualties have been reported so far.

Fire and rescue personnel remain at the scene to monitor further ground movement.
