A stray dog was shot and killed in a residential area in Tampoi, Johor yesterday morning, 25 September

According to a Facebook post, a resident of the area heard a loud sound around 7am yesterday, 25 September. This was followed by the cries of a dog.

The dog is believed to have died on the spot as residents discovered its lifeless body covered in blood

The dog showed no signs of life as it laid unresponsive on a field opposite of a resident's house.

Apparently, the dog was no stranger to the neighbourhood as residents were familiar with it.

The alleged shooter left the scene before anyone could spot them

None of the residents saw who were the culprits and how many there were.

According to the Facebook post, the only thing the residents could do were take pictures of the dog as proof and report it to relevant authorities.

Netizens were outraged at this case of animal cruelty and were vocal about it in the comments section
