#Belanjawan2026: RM48 Billion Allocated For Sabah, Sarawak Highways

The allocation will also fund the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road and Trans Borneo Highway projects.

A total of RM48 billion has been set aside for the construction of new highways, and the upgrading of existing ones in Sabah and Sarawak, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim

The announcement was made during the tabling of Belanjawan 2026 today, 10 October.

Nine Pan Borneo Sarawak packages have been fully completed and are open for public use, as well as four Pan Borneo Sabah Phase 1 packages.

A total of RM1.67 billion has been allocated to ensure the Pan Borneo Sabah proceeds as planned.

Anwar said that the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) Phase 1 is expected to be completed in November 2026, while SSLR Phase 2 is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in mid-2029

He also said the government will upgrade existing road pavement structures for the Durin and Salim sections in Sibu, Sarawak, at a cost of RM350 million.

In total, these public infrastructure projects will cost RM48 billion.
