Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that civil servants will receive new incentives based on their work performance

To recognise the excellent performance of long-serving civil servants in the Management and Professional Group facing promotion delays due to rigid job structures, the government has agreed to expand the implementation of the Performance-Based Incentive Aid.

According to Anwar, who is also the finance minister, officers whose promotions are dependent on job vacancies, who have served for at least six or eight years — depending on their grade — and have demonstrated good or excellent performance, will receive the special incentive.

The incentive, equivalent to an annual salary increment at their current grade, will be paid out monthly

To encourage civil servants to improve their academic qualifications, the government will provide a living allowance of RM900 per month to recipients of the Federal Training Award (HLP) Semi Scholarship, starting in 2026.

The number of recipients for the HLP Semi Scholarship will also be increased to 150 per year, up from 100.
