The government has allocated over RM580 million towards the development of national sports under Belanjawan 2026
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced this during the tabling of the Belanjawan 2026 earlier today, 10 October.
"We must maintain the burning spirit of championship to achieve greater success," Anwar said.
The prime minister said the allocation would go towards several key areas, including:
- Empowering high-performance sports, which includes the 'Road to Gold' programme
- Preparations for Malaysia's hosting of the 2027 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games
- Empowering para-athletes and deaf sports
- The maintenance and repair of youth and sports facilities nationwide
- Upgrading school fields under the Ministry of Education (MOE) across the country
