Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim showed up to Parliament looking sharp for the tabling of Belanjawan 2026 today, 10 October, and every part of his outfit had a story behind it

Dressed in a sky-blue Baju Melayu from Kuala Lumpur, Anwar paired it with a samping handmade by inmates from Marang Prison, a thoughtful nod to local craftsmanship and rehabilitation efforts.

His songkok from Johor added a traditional touch, while his butang Baju Melayu from Pahang tied the whole look together with understated elegance.

He also wore a pair of capal (wooden slippers) from Jago Kepala Batas, keeping things proudly Malaysian from head to toe.

But the standout piece is the Beg Belanjawan 2026; more than just an accessory, it's a symbol of resilience, sustainability, and inclusion

The bag's woven panel was crafted by Anthony Liew You Chung, a 37-year-old artist with autism and hearing impairment from Kuching.

Under Heart Treasures, a social enterprise that trains and empowers youth with special needs, Anthony transformed used nitrile gloves into a one-of-a-kind woven design representing renewal and sustainability.

The main fabric came from discarded textiles found at a thrift store in Taman Shamelin Perkasa, KL, and the bag's production was handled by Tanoti, a Kuching-based social enterprise championing local artisans and traditional craftsmanship.
