Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Syafiq Mohd Zulbahrin led the prosecution, while lawyer S Priyalatha represented the accused

The prosecution initially offered bail of RM5,000 with one surety, citing the seriousness of the case and its wide circulation on social media.

However, the defence requested for a lower amount, citing that the accused is a juvenile offender who is still in school.

The court ultimately granted bail at RM1,000 with one surety and set 11 September for the submission of a character report from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) before sentencing.

The student's mother, who is in her 40s, told reporters that he is her only child and lives with her following her separation from his father

She said her son regrets his actions and has since apologised to the teacher.
