Tucked deep within the Kepong Botanic Gardens is a camping-style, open-air café that feels like a secret you accidentally stumble upon
Located inside Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Mimpi Hutan is wrapped in towering trees where the air feels noticeably crisper and the city noise fades away.

It's the kind of place where you can sip coffee in the middle of a literal forest without the gruelling three-hour drive out of Klang Valley
Getting there is part of the experience. Once you enter the park (RM1 entry, RM5 parking), you'll need to walk about 10 minutes in.
It's roughly a 700m stroll along a paved path through lush greenery before the café quietly reveals itself on the side of the trail.
No cars are allowed past the parking area, so it's just you, nature, and maybe a bit of sweat if you're visiting in the afternoon (bring a cap or umbrella and mosquito spray if you're a 'magnet' for mozzies).

The café setup is laid-back, featuring camping chairs scattered across both shaded and sunny patches
Beyond the standard coffee, cakes, and pastries, they also serve nasi lemak (including ayam goreng and rendang versions), nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, sandwiches, and even croffle.
