Refugee Students Can Now Apply For This Fully-Funded Scholarship To Study In Malaysia

As the only organisation in Malaysia offering higher education scholarships specifically to refugees, Fugee reaffirms its commitment to empowering refugee youth through higher education — an opportunity that is otherwise difficult or impossible to access locally.

In a statement, Fugee highlighted that less than 1% of refugee youth in Malaysia have access to higher education
Fugee's programme aims to contributes to the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees' (UNHCR) "15by30" vision, increasing refugee enrolment in higher education globally to 15% by 2030.
"We're incredibly excited to onboard our fifth cohort of scholars," said Sarah El Massaoudi, Programmes Director at Fugee.
"Having witnessed the success of previous cohorts — with students who have gone on to study and work abroad — it's clear that this programme is truly life-changing, not only for our scholars but also for their families," she added.
Launched in 2021, the programme has so far awarded 57 scholarships to students from 10 different countries, and is committed to opening doors for many more.

The scholarship fully covers tuition fees for a student's bachelor's degree, foundation, or diploma programme of up to four years at universities in Malaysia
Applicants must be registered or officially recognised as a refugee, asylum seeker, or stateless in Malaysia (with UNHCR or UNRWA ID cards), and aged between 18 and 35 years old.
Applications for the 2026 cohort are open from 2 June to 28 July 2025.
