The team behind oat milk brand OATSIDE has just launched a new plant-based milk brand in Malaysia called NOBO Soy
Launching with two flavours, Soy Milk and Almond Soy Milk, NOBO Soy gives classic soy milk a modern, wellness-friendly twist with cleaner ingredients, better nutrition, and a modern flavour.

The Soy Milk is smooth, creamy, and lightly roasted, while the Almond Soy Milk blends the same soy base with dark roasted almond grounds for a nuttier twist
What makes it different from typical packaged soy milk is its higher protein content: 4.2g per 100ml, which is almost double that of many regular soy milks and around 40% more than dairy milk.
According to the brand, this comes from a double-extraction process using non-GMO high-protein Canadian soybeans.

The soy milk is also made with less sugar (under 5g per 100ml) and contains no added oils, emulsifiers, gums, or protein powders, keeping the ingredient list simple and minimal.
"We spent a lot of time sourcing the right soybeans and eventually chose non-GMO, high-protein beans from Canada for their nutrition and flavour," said Benedict Lim, CEO and founder of OATSIDE.
"Our philosophy with NOBO is to be minimalist and allow soy's natural richness and nutrition to shine through without unnecessary additives."

To celebrate the launch, NOBO Soy has teamed up with heritage bakery Fung Wong Biscuits and contemporary bakehouse Floccus Floccus to create a limited-time menu of soy-inspired pastries
Available from 12 March to 12 April, the collaboration features six special treats that reinterpret classic pastries using NOBO soy milk:
- Soy Roll
- Gem Bites
- Soy Tart
- Mochi
- Thousand Layers cake
- Soy Silk (soy pudding)

The launch kicked off with a party in Chinatown, where the space was transformed into an immersive NOBO Soy experience highlighting both nostalgic and modern ways soy can be used in food.

On the style front, NOBO also collaborated with Vietnam-based fashion label CHAUTFIFTH to create a soy bean-shaped handbag, inspired by the brand's mascot and minimalist packaging.
It drops online on 16 March while stocks last.

Each 180ml packet of NOBO Soy or Almond Soy is RM1.80, while 1L packs are RM6.90 for Soy and RM7.90 for Almond Soy, available at major retailers and online nationwide from 16 March
So if you're already a fan of plant-based milk, or just curious about a modern take on a nostalgic drink, this might be one to add to your grocery list.
And if you're in KL this month, you might want to swing by Chinatown to try those soy pastries before they disappear.
