After nearly seven months of closure for maintenance, the National Science Centre has finally reopened its doors to the public as of 1 October 2025
If you've ever driven along Bukit Kiara and wondered what that rainbow dome on a hill was, that's Pusat Sains Negara — or the National Science Centre (PSNKL).

The centre, a staple of many childhood field trips, went through a round of upgrades aimed at improving its exhibits and visitor facilities
According to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the renovation works were part of a wider plan to revitalise Malaysia's national science galleries and make them more interactive and comfortable for visitors.
Inside, visitors will find an upgraded lineup of interactive zones and exhibits that make learning feel more like play.

The Dinosaur Encounter has closed at the centre. However, there is a Prehistoric Trail just outside the building featuring some dinosaur statues.
The crowd favourite XR Obscura Exhibition is still there, featuring a rainbow slide, a virtual reality zone, and a 360° digital ocean experience that lets you explore marine life in full surround.
Another highlight is the aquarium tunnel, home to tropical freshwater fish and dubbed Malaysia's first freshwater fish tunnel aquarium.
Families can also enjoy hands-on activities, science demos, and brand new rest areas designed to make the experience smoother and more comfortable.

During its reopening week, the science centre welcomed visitors for free. But as of now, regular admission fees have resumed.
