Designed by Mell Sulaiman, winner of the Malaysia Top National Costume Designer Competition 2025, the costume draws inspiration from the vibrant cultural heritage of Sabah's Sama-Bajau community.

"I feel deeply honoured to wear this costume, which truly represents the beauty of Malaysia's creativity and multicultural spirit. I am determined to represent my country with grace and elegance, while showing that beauty, compassion, and intellect can go hand in hand," said Lim.

Every detail of the costume reflects the Sama-Bajau's proud seafaring spirit

The Sama-Bajau are known as expert divers and navigators who live closely with the sea. This connection is reflected in the details of 'The Majestic of Anjung Serimpak', which weaves their maritime heritage into its design and symbolism.

The Serimpak headdress, shaped like a sailing vessel, honours the Sama-Bajau as fearless seafarers, while its golden accents symbolise the elegance of Malaysia's noblewomen.

The sea-green fabric and beadwork mirror the calm tones and shimmer of Sabah's coastal waters.

Completing the look, the Duang Sama prop is detailed with colourful patterns and beadwork, inspired by the culture of Sama-Bajau.

According to Charissa Chong, National Director of Miss Universe Malaysia Organization (MUMO), the national costume is more than a visual showcase; it's an opportunity to highlight Malaysia's creativity and multicultural strength.

With just weeks to go before the global competition, Lim is continuing her preparations with MUMO's support

Her training covers everything from catwalk and stage performance to fitness, nutrition, and media workshops.
