Known as the 'Hermès of Samgyetang', it has not only seen long queues at its flagship outlet along Orchard Road in Singapore, but has been drawing crowds even in KL, with people lining up to try this much-coveted comfort dish.

Founded by a South Korean based in Singapore, the premium Korean ginseng chicken soup specialist brings its whole wellness-meets-luxury concept here, complete with Hanok-inspired interior, private VIP rooms, and a Muslim-friendly menu with no pork, no lard, and entirely chicken-based dishes, so everyone can enjoy it.

MODU is all about taking samgyetang beyond just "comfort food" and turning it into a full-on dining experience

They currently offer six different versions:

1. Hanbang Samgyetang (전통 한방 삼계탕) – RM 52: Chicken, ginseng, glutinous rice, leek, jujube, chives, pine nut

2. Spicy Herbal Samgyetang (얼큰 삼계탕) – RM 56: Chicken, ginseng, glutinous rice, garlic, jujube, secret spicy sauce

3. Beauty Collagen Samgyetang (뷰티 콜라겐 삼계탕) – RM 56: Chicken, ginseng, glutinous rice, garlic, jujube, beauty herbs

4. Black Sesame Samgyetang (흑임자 삼계탕) – RM 58: Chicken, ginseng, glutinous rice, leek, jujube, black sesame

5. Perilla Seed Samgyetang (들깨 삼계탕) – RM 58: Chicken, ginseng, glutinous rice, garlic, jujube, perilla seeds

6. Black Chicken Samgyetang (오골계 삼계탕) – RM 64: Black spring chicken, ginseng root, glutinous rice, leek, jujube

Each spring chicken is lovingly stuffed with glutinous rice and a mix of herbs and flavours, then slow-simmered for up to 12 hours with ginseng, jujube, and other traditional herbs. You can really taste the care and depth in every comforting bite.

We tried quite a lineup: Black Chicken, Black Sesame, Spicy Herbal, and the Beauty Collagen, along with sides like potato pancake and chicken gizzard popcorn

First thing's first, each variety uses spring chicken, and it's so tender, like proper fall-off-the-bone soft.

You could really tell it's been simmered for hours because the flavour goes deep, not just surface-level sedap.

The Black Chicken Samgyetang was slightly firmer and drier compared to the spring chicken in the other dishes, but still comforting and rich.

Everything was good, honestly, but our clear favourites were the Beauty Collagen Samgyetang and Spicy Herbal Samgyetang.

The Beauty Collagen Samgyetang was light, nourishing, and just super satisfying in that "I'm doing something good for my body" way, while the Spicy Herbal Samgyetang had slight kimchi jiggae vibes.

It's the kind of meal that feels especially perfect on a rainy evening, when you just want something warm, cosy, and low-effort, but still a little fancy

Each pot is technically meant for one person, but if you're a smaller eater, sharing between two is totally doable.

They also offer set menus for two, which come with tea, two soups of your choice, one shareable dish, and tofu gelato for dessert, priced at RM145 or RM175 depending on the set. Plus, the soups, side dishes (kimchi and salad), and rice are refillable.

There's also a tofu gelato place right next to the restaurant if you want a little treat after your meal.

The space itself is also worth mentioning. MODU's interior blends modern elegance with traditional Korean Hanok elements like warm wood tones, soft lantern lighting, and even an open kitchen so you can watch the action unfold.

If you're celebrating a special occasion or just want a quieter meal, they also have private VIP rooms for a more exclusive vibe.
