At this year's Met Gala, Malaysian designer Dickson Lim revealed that one of his suits made a pretty major appearance, worn by Ty Hunter, the longtime stylist to Beyoncé

And it didn't just show up on the carpet. The look was also featured on the front cover of The Wall Street Journal!

According to Lim, the opportunity came out of nowhere.

"A few weeks before the Met Gala, Ty msged me and told me he really wanted to wear my designs to the Met Gala with Beyoncé," Lim told SAYS.

"He told me he'd be seen, styling, and attending alongside her that night. What shocked me most was when he said a lot of people had reached out wanting to style him for the Met Gala… but he turned them down because he only wanted to wear DICKSON LIM.

"That honestly meant a lot to me."

For Lim, who hails from Kuching, Sarawak, the moment hits different

"Especially coming from Kuching, Sarawak, where fashion always felt so far away from the world stage. Growing up, moments like this didn't even feel possible," he added.

So when someone operating at the very top of the industry reached out personally, it still felt surreal.

"And then waking up to see my designs on the front cover of The Wall Street Journal with Beyoncé beside him? Crazy."

More than just a viral moment, Lim says it is a reminder that where you come from does not limit how far your work can go.

"It's one of those moments that reminds me that where you come from doesn't decide how far your work can go."
