When Jackson Wang performed in Malaysia recently, the crowd went wild, and understandably so

Between the choreography, the charisma, and the chaos, it was a night to remember.

But did you know one of the musicians on stage with him was a Malaysian bassist?

We caught up with Khairul Aiman, who had the insane honour of performing alongside Jackson during his show in KL on Saturday, 25 October, and he spilled a bit about what it was like being part of the team behind the magic.

While Aiman can't disclose how he got the gig, he shared that he's been on tour with Jackson since the start of MAGICMAN 2, and will continue performing for the rest of the tour.

SAYS: What was your first reaction when you got the gig?

Aiman: Ecstatic, of course. Jackson reaches a wide audience with a strong message, so I was glad to be invited to be a part of his tour.

SAYS: What were the rehearsals like?

Aiman: It was quite intense but very efficient. Each band member had their own input and was able to contribute to shaping how the music would be performed.

It was fairly simple to a certain extent as Jackson was always very clear about the creative direction he saw for the performance of the music.

SAYS: We don't know anyone who has met Jackson and didn't end up having a slight crush on him. What was it like sharing the stage with one of Asia's biggest stars? What does he smell like? Hehe

Aiman: He is an extremely generous and respectful person. He makes you feel seen and heard.

He's very humble and doesn't fail to express his appreciation for everyone's time and effort. His work ethic is also very commendable.

He's always committed to giving his all during rehearsals but is also always present and involved when we're off the clock. I have immense respect for him. Can't say I've noticed how he smells though, haha.

SAYS: What was your favourite moment from the show?

Aiman: All the dancing. It's so well choreographed and is always executed to perfection. It's a real joy to experience.

As a musician, I greatly admire Jackson using his position as an artist to spread a strong message about being okay with being who you are. Many of us lose sight of that and it's great that he does it in such a stylish and enjoyable way for the masses.
