If you're planning to sell your car or transfer ownership, you'll need a PUSPAKOM inspection first

PUSPAKOM is basically Malaysia's official vehicle inspection body. It checks that your car is roadworthy and legally fit before ownership transfers, loan settlements, or certain insurance renewals.
Most PUSPAKOM branches now require you to book an appointment online before you show up. Luckily, the process is quick and can be done entirely online.
Here's a simple step-by-step guide to booking your inspection:
Step 1: Visit the official MyPUSPAKOM portal

Always double-check that it's the official site and not an agent or "booking service" that charges you unnecessary fees.
If this is your first time, you'll need to register an account. Just fill in your IC or company number, phone, and email, then verify through the link sent to your inbox. Once you're in, you're ready to make a booking.
Step 2: Select the right type of inspection

You need to select the right type of inspection to cater to your own needs. The common inspection types are:
- B5: Transfer of ownership (for buying or selling a used vehicle)
- B2: Insurance renewal (for certain cars, usually over five years old or modified)
- B7: Hire purchase termination (for when your car loan is fully paid off)
Each inspection will cost you between RM30 and RM100, depending on the vehicle class and inspection type. Their official website will display the exact fee before you pay.
Step 3: Pick your preferred branch and time slot

Next, choose the PUSPAKOM branch nearest to you. The system shows all available dates and times — some popular branches like Petaling Jaya or Wangsa Maju can get booked out fast, so plan a week or two ahead if you can.
Check your details carefully before confirming, especially your car plate number and inspection type, since mistakes can't be edited after payment.

Step 4: Make payment and save your booking details

Pay online using FPX (bank transfer), debit or credit card, or e-wallets like Touch 'n Go or Boost. Once your payment is successful, you'll get a confirmation email with your appointment reference number.
Download or screenshot your booking slip. You'll need to show it during check-in, along with your MyKad and the vehicle's registration card.
Step 5: Prepare your car and show up early

Arrive about 15 to 30 minutes before your slot, as late arrivals may have to rebook. Make sure your vehicle is clean and road-ready, with no illegal modifications, tinted windows beyond JPJ limits, or missing number plates.
If you're unsure what's being checked, PUSPAKOM lists inspection items on their site for each vehicle type. A clean car and proper documents usually mean a faster process at the centre.
That's it! You're finally done with your PUSPAKOM inspection.

Once it's completed, you'll get your report (usually within the same day), which you can then submit to JPJ or your buyer.
