Did you know that we will be celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri twice in 2033?

According to the Islamic calendar, Hari Raya Aidilfitri has been moving earlier each year on the Gregorian calendar.

This means that in a few years, Hari Raya Aidilfitri will eventually be celebrated in January, and the next one will land even earlier, in December that same year! This unusual overlap will happen in 2033.

The last time this occurred was in the year 2000, when Hari Raya Aidilfitri fell on 8 and 9 January, and again on 28 and 29 December.

Here are the tentative dates for Hari Raya Aidilfitri in 2033, according to TimeandDate.com:

3 January (Monday) – Hari Raya Aidilfitri Day 1
4 January (Tuesday) – Hari Raya Aidilfitri Day 2
23 December (Friday) – Hari Raya Aidilfitri Day 1
24 December (Saturday) – Hari Raya Aidilfitri Day 2

The second Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration will even coincide with the Christmas weekend!
