A British-Nigerian YouTuber recently shared her confusion after spotting something unusual in a UK supermarket — a can of MILO locked up like it was gold

In an Instagram video, @sassyfunke shared her surprise upon finding a 400g tin of MILO being sold for 6.90 pounds (around RM37) at Tesco, locked inside a metal cage, the kind typically used to prevent theft.

"London people please explain this. Why is MILO in prison in Tesco — and £7 on top?! Ordinary MILO that is plenty in Balogun Market," she joked in her caption

Balogun Market is one of the biggest open-air markets on Lagos Island.

The can in Tesco was labelled MILO Chocolate Drink Powder Singapore.

It seems the drink many of us grew up with is now seen as something of a luxury import in the UK

The video has since sparked plenty of reactions online, with many shocked (and amused) that MILO, our humble breakfast staple, has achieved "premium" status overseas.
