Hidden away in the heart of Seri Kembangan, Pasar Borneo is a Saturday-only morning market that bursts to life for just a few short hours
From 7am to 11am, it's like a teleportation portal straight into the heart of East Malaysia.
Run entirely by sellers from Sabah and Sarawak, this niche bazaar showcases traditional dishes, exotic produce, indigenous ingredients, and vibrant crafts you rarely find outside of Borneo.

With over 60 stalls every Saturday, you'll find all sorts of Borneo kuih and cakes
Among them are Kuih Cincin, Pinjaram, Amplang, Campiang, Celorot, and of course, Kek Lapis Sarawak.
There's also Murtabak Sabah, a spiced-up, East Malaysian remix of your usual murtabak.

Ever heard of Durian Dalit or Tarap? This is where you try it.
Depending on the season, you'll find fruits here you won't see at your regular pasar malam, such as Tarap, Bambangan, Dabai, Durian Dalit, Pakan, Maraang, and Belunu.
Several reviews mention that the sellers are friendly and helpful — not only sharing their knowledge but also offering tips on how to prepare and cook the ingredients.

For foodies missing East Malaysian comfort food, they have a variety of stalls selling homecooked dishes
Stalls here offer hearty, homecooked dishes that East Malaysians grew up on:
- Mee Kolok, Mee Kampua, Mee Sup Kota Belud
- Laksa Sarawak
- Soto Keningau, Ngui Chap, and Sarawak-style nasi campur
- Linopot (rice wrapped in leaves, often served with Tuhau or salted fish)
- Sagu, ayam/ikan pansuh (bamboo-cooked dishes full of smokey goodness)

The market also stocks hard-to-find native vegetables like Miding, Paku, Umbut Sawit, Umbut Kelapa, Terung Asam, and Tuhau, a Sabahan fermented ginger dish with an unforgettable kick
Even the Losun (wild leek) and Lada Putih (white pepper) are flavour bombs you won't want to sleep on.

You can also bring home traditional condiments like Bosou, Pekasam, Tuhau sambal, and even Jeuk Bambangan.
Some stalls even sell Tuak and Lihing for those craving the real taste of home or wanting to try something new (and slightly boozy).

East Malaysians living in the Klang Valley often drop by just to reconnect, share stories, and stock up on things they miss from home
Sometimes, you might even find outfits from Sarawak and Sabah. It's the perfect place to feel at home if you're from East Malaysia. Or to get a taste of it, even if you're not.
