Popular YouTuber Linus Visits Plaza Low Yat, Gets Charged RM175 For An HDMI Cable
The cable is said to be a "high-quality, branded" one.
Canadian tech YouTuber Linus Sebastian recently spent his holidays in Malaysia and promptly visited Plaza Low Yat, the country's prime location for tech products
The popular tech personality mentioned that he visited Plaza Low Yat to find an HDMI cable and a micro-HDMI adapter to connect his ROG Ally handheld gaming computer and Nintendo Switch to the hotel TV.

If you've ever been to Plaza Low Yat, you'll know that there's a plethora of shops to choose from
Linus decided to visit a camera store to look for a micro-HDMI cable, as modern 'prosumer cameras' commonly use them. For context, micro-HDMI cables connect smaller devices that can't fit a full-sized HDMI port to displays like monitors or TVs.
Linus was happy to find the exact cable he needed, but decided not to buy it after seeing the price. According to the video, the store charged RM175 for the cable, which he considered outrageously overpriced.
"I don't know whether that's a convenience tax or a foreigner tax, but either way, I'm not paying that," said Linus in the video.

He eventually found what he was looking for at another store in Plaza Low Yat
He was pleased to find one for a very reasonable RM18, making his decision easy. During his visit, he was also surprised to see advanced tech components readily available, such as the NVIDIA RTX 50 Series graphics cards stocked on the shelves.
Overall, Linus was happy with his shopping experience and impressed by the variety of tech products the mall offered.
